Biodiversity Conservation & Management

It's evident that water management has been a significant challenge for DIL (presumably referring to a specific industrial plant or company) due to its location in Chandrapur, a drought-prone district in Maharashtra. However, the organization has successfully addressed this challenge through various water conservation measures. These measures have not only helped them ensure an adequate water supply for their operations but have also significantly reduced their water consumption and improved their environmental sustainability. Here's a summary of the key actions taken:

Since the inception of DIL's operations in Chandrapur, the organization has been dedicated to afforestation. Within the plant premises, there are 1,59,893 saplings of diverse tree species, with a remarkable survival rate of over 70%. DIL's two in-plant earthen reservoirs have significantly contributed to recharging the groundwater table. The high water table on-site and in the vicinity has been instrumental in supporting DIL's extensive green belt initiative, covering a total of 138 acres, which accounts for approximately 35% of the campus. This endeavor is fostering the development of a thriving biological ecosystem.

DIL has 2 in-plant earthen reservoirs which have contributed immensely in replenishing ground water table. The high water table within the plant premises and in the vicinity has supported DIL’s green belt drive in the region. At DIL a total 138 acres of land is under green belt cover which is around 35% of our campus, a biological eco system in making.

Going ahead, DIL has recently developed a Teak wood, Turmeric and Orange corridor wherein indigenous species are being nursed. Geographically being a dry region DIL, Chandrapur has substantially covered a major portion of its campus into green belt, an area that now invites bio-logically diverse inhabitants to dwell and flourish.
